The Surveyors Board of Queensland (SBQ) is constituted under Section 7 of
the Surveyors Act 2003.

The SBQ performs the functions set out in the Act and is accountable to the Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy.

The Board consists of eight members appointed by Governor in Council. The board structure is comprised as follows:

  Six members of the board must be surveyors consisting of:
 
 
  • - three land surveyors;
  • - one surveyor directly involved in teaching surveying;
  • - one land surveyor employed by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Management (DERM) and
  • - one other surveyor.
 
 Two other board members represent the interests of the community in the conduct and practice of the profession.
