The Surveyors Act 2003, Section 39 states "…The Board must establish the competency frameworks appropriate for the qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience needed for:

  • (a) registration as a surveyor, surveying graduate or surveying associate; or
  • (b) a registration endorsement"


The Board Competency Framework Overview Document and associated background material enable an applicant to gauge the category of registration within which they can prove their competency to the Board.

  • - Registered Surveyor plus endorsements
  • - Registered Surveying Graduate
  • - Registered Surveying Associate

Applicants should read all the information about the Competency Framework before applying. Forms are available for an initial application for competency assessment or for registration. Click here to view the registration process.

Applications must be received at least two weeks before the Board Meeting Dates and include the appropriate fee as set out in the Fee Schedule. This schedule also contains details about renewal of registration, Professional Training Agreements and all other Board fees.

Register in another state or territory - trasfer your registration from another state or territory

Reciprocal arrangements are in place for cadastral/land surveyors within Australia and New Zealand. Details are available at CRSBANZ.

Arrangements for other registered persons may be available with other Boards where there is an equivalent registration category.

Surveyors wishing to transfer their registration must ask their current registration authority to issue a Letter of Accreditation. Fees may apply for this service.
